Christmas really has come early for die-hard Republicans!

The news that the three IRA men convicted for training FARC guerillas in Columbia have returned to Ireland is astounding! Of course, there’s the typical Unionist line that this was pre-arranged, blah blah blah. That’s a bit of a stretch, even for me!

Gerry thinks it’s great thay’re all back on Terra Eire, and probably wants to throw a big party in their honor. Hell, there’s no point in pretending anymore - we know Sinn Fein were in bed with the IRA - it’s all one big happy family! Of course, it’s not like Gerry & Co to show flagrant disregard for the legal system of another country . . .

My favourite bit of coverage was on the BBC website. In an interview with Jim Monaghan, one of the Columbia Three:

[Monaghan] said he did not consider himself to be “on the run” and would not be hiding from Irish police.

All the same, he was being interviewed “by RTE at a secret location”. Nope, definitely not on the run.
