Poll: Your Favourite Northern Irish Place
Let’s have a bit of light debate (for a change) about your favourite places in Northern Ireland. We’re asking the question in the poll in the sidebar.
I’ve popped a few options in there for you: Belfast, Ballycastle (my home town), and Lisburn (Belfast-lite?) - you can add any other places or vote for whatever’s already there. At the end of the week, we’ll see what the most popular location is. Hopefully…
I’d like this poll to be a big one, so those of you with blogs out there…you know what to do ![]()

How about “Anywhere that’s not the Maze?”
In becoming a friend of someone who lives on Ards Penisula she’s shown me something that relates to the mouldwork I’m doing now. That is, the restoration done at Ballywalter Park. Naturally it interests me in that regard. I have also had someone originally from Antrim share interest in developing a cast stone enterprise, and he ostensibly wantrs to center it in Ballycastle, and hire me…if I feel I can adapt after a trial period. (I know you’re rooting for that!) The whole of the island interests me in terms of archaeology and architecture. I love the music and the people. I follow the impressive character and lineage of literature that springs from Ireland.
I look to Levee Breaks for social-political insights and somewhat enlightened (and are a family man to boot). You seem pretty even-handed in criticism. It’s hard to really say for sure until someone lives through certain experiences. I can only hope that I’m not a slow learner.
That first sentence of second paragraph should read: “I look to Levee Breaks for social-political insights from someone whom seems somewhat enlightened (and whom is a family man to boot).
I was a little tired at its posting and couldn’t figure how to edit it.

Anywhere along the North Antrim coast. Especially the more remote parts like Torr Head.
As there seems to be a definite East of the Bann bias here, I feel it’s my duty to fly the flag for the West. The Glenelly valley, Plumbridge, Co. Tyrone - Ireland’s most beautiful valley.
NS: I’d noticed that myself. Thanks for your suggestion - we’ll maybe take a family day out over there sometime. Anything else in the area you’d recommend?
Rostrevor?
Isn’t there a nice park somewhere in Rostrevor Jo? I remember being there as a child.
Mrs L, the park is larger than the village!
Kilbroney Park, its called, beside the magical Fairy Glen
The fairy glen, that’s it! I can just remember some sort of river/stream running through a stunning park. We’ll have to take a visit someday.
Is Lisburn a serious suggestion? Whereabouts in Lisburn specifically, the swimming pool? Bow street mall?
Personally, I think the Mournes deserve a mention.
I still can’t believe Lisburn got city status. The mind boggles!
